So I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I have all my music and videos stored on a central home server running Windows Home Server 2011. I have been using the Samsung Music Player that came with the device as I was really not using my phone as a music player much. I have now taken the plunge of retiring the ipod and I was looking at ways of getting the music on my device. Now I find the Samsung Music Player more than adequote for my needs and when I clicked on 'nearby devices' up popped my media server and then I clicked on a track and download and there it was on my device... Brilliant exactly what I wanted... UNTIL I noticed that my media server was presenting itself to me 'By Song' so the list was massive and the opportunity to just click on an album or artist was not there.

Two Questions:-
- Does anyone know how to make the Samsung Music Player simply present the music on a nearby device by album or artist. It does it perfectly well for the local media on the phone and I just want the option to navigate the media server by album or artist... anything but song!
- If this is a no does anyone know a simple app that will allow me to navigate to my media server, browse and download files/folders of info

I am sorely tempted to just buy into Amazon's cloud option and then use that as my music server but I would really like the rest of the family to use their devices to access the same store and there is no way my son is getting access to my Amazon account and having two cloud accounts with the same media in it just seems wrong

Thanks for help

Why don't you just use Google Music. It will upload all your tunes to the cloud and you'll be able to play all your tunes as needed without.
You don't have to pay for anything

...except data charges. Unless you listen to music only in places with an accessible Wi-Fi connection.

He has to deal with some kind of data usage. Which he didn't state.

So Google music is now an option in the UK where I live from mid November... Actually I found a solution called MediaHouse Pro which works really well in navigating my WHS in a library form of albums and artists etc and its an easy download from there... I think it was a few pounds but it does exactly what I need. I'll be trying out the Google music solution for music on the go when it releases this month. Thanks for help
