Acer Iconia B1 Screen won't rotate no matter what I do!!!!

Ok so i've started having a major problem with my Acer Iconia B1. The screen will not auto rotate even though I have adjusted the screen lock to the auto rotate setting.

I have tested the accelerometer with an app I downloaded and it is still fully functional so this is not a problem.

I have tried a factory reset, the reset pin on the side, completely draining the battery and nothing seems to fix this!!!

I am running Android 4.1.2 and the device is not rooted (all previous updates have been official ones rolled out by Acer).

How do I fix this?

I spoke to an Acer engineer, he tells me that its a common fault with the tablet - no point trying to solve this, it isnt a software issue its the hardware, so wrap it back up and return it for either a replacement or whatever ok.
