Hey guys! This is my first smartphone and just received it last night. I am having a problem with the active display/notifications feature. I can't swipe it to the left or right and stop the flashing. Any ideas on why this is happening? Thanks!

Make sure that you touch and hold the notification and then swipe. It's not the same as when you swipe a notification on an iPhone or even if you swipe away an email in Gmail.

Welcome to the forums. Let us know if the above worked.

The time will continue to 'breathe' if that's what you mean. It's a feature, but will stop if you flip the phone over

Does it not stop breathing after one views all pending notifications?

No the time and a padlock keep breathing periodically

That is not my experience. However I have limited the number of apps to notify to a very limited list. Neither of our two M.X's breath when there is no un-viewed notification. Chris

The only time my Moto X shows anything without me touching it is if I have a notification that I have not cleared. It doesn't come on to just show the time. Maybe that's a setting I don't know about though.

It will show the time/lock if you move the phone. It uses the sensors to make that pop up. I was testing that the other day to see if it just randomly showed time/lock or if it was movement based.

Mine breathes with no notifications or movement. Not nearly as often as with a notification but it does

Motorola does say that it will not show notifications if the phone is in a pocket or face down. I guess that means that it will show when face up. I have never seen it do this though when there were no notifications. Maybe I just don't notice it.

Part of the battery savings comes from not needing to turn the phone on (and the screen) to check the time and/or notifications.

Active Notifications are pretty sensitive. If your phone is face up, the slightest vibration will trigger it and show the time. The exception to this that I've noticed is if it's face up in the car. It seems to get used to vibrations of the car and it stays off.

If you have driving detection enabled, it's probably not breathing because you're driving.

A couple updates ago, mine stopped breathing altogether unless there was an unacknowledged notification. To me, this is the preferred behavior.

Same here. As long as it still comes on normally when I want to check the time, I'm happy.

So my MotoX is asleep and locked and every six seconds, it displays the time and temperature when laying face up. There are no notifications displayed. How can I correct this...it's annoying.

What time and temp app? If a down loaded app remove it? Or look at the settings to see if app has notification active.

Settings
Active display
Manage notifications
