My 2013 Nexus 7 has less then 12gb after a factory reset. I think it should be closer to 13gb. Anyone with a screenshot of theirs or other info would be appreciated. Many sources point to greater than 13gb available space. I need more info to convince Google tech support. Thanks for your time.

If you're so worried about a gig and a half or so why didn't you just put the extra money down for a 32gb?

This is actually a huge percentage of storage and would signify something was wrong with the device.
Anyone else with some actual helpful information.

that storage performance link is for the OLD N7. obviously, the latest N7 and version of android will take up more space than it did in 2012.

Joe JoeJoe your right, that is the 2012 version. Now if someone would be kind enough to check their 2013 version I would be most grateful. Still looking for that helpful answer.

my 2013 has 12.21GB listed as total space available.

I'm relatively new to android, but my guess is you did the factory reset without clearing cache data or wipe or something, and the number being reported is different because the OS only counted what was remaining after the factory reset, including the data you should have wiped. that's my guess anyways.

Joe JoeJoe , You said 'my 2013 has 12.21GB listed as total space available.'

There is "Total Space" and under that heading is the subheading "Available", I am looking for the larger number of the 2.
To my knowledge a factory reset clears everything, it is like formatting a computers hard drive.
The Total Space on mine is 11.94GB, under available it shows 11.35.

Have to compare apple to apples, and Total Space (not available space) is the only way to do that.

that's exactly what I meant. the total space is listed as 12.21GB. obviously 'available' space is variable depending on how much space you're using.

You would not believe how hard it is to get Google support to throw out a storage number.
Thanks Folks

Even my NEXUS 7 2013 has a 12.21 gb available for storage.I wonder if that's a technical fault. But many people have a higher available memory as well

26.11gb out of 32 on mine

Same with mine, before 4.4 update. I was a little disappointed that Jelly Bean took up nearly 6gb of space. Since Google won't install a micro SD slot, it's way past time to offer a 64gb version of the Nexus 7.

The lack of a sdcard is close to a zero issue now that there is the meenova card reader.

I plan to get one. Gonna be super handy for many things.
