Ad removal and anti virus

Within two days of getting my HTC 10 last week, I was getting ads redirecting me to another site and then getting caught in a redirect loop. Not sure if it's down to an ad or a virus.

I downloaded Avast which seems to be working OK and I've not had any redirects since. I also tried downloading Adguard in the hope of stopping small ads which load on websites like these and drop the screen all the time.

However it stays constantly on pause - does anyone know if Avast conflicts with it?

If so, can anyone recommend an ad blocker?

Thanks
Adrian

Mobile Antivirus Software is over rated and after awhile they'll start taking their toll on your battery life and overall phone performance. A little bit of common sense can go a long way in these matters. Stay away from 3rd party untrusted apps, stay away from anonymous/spam emails, and stay away from porn sites (if you can) lol, and you should be good. As far as ads go...well, idk cause I don't have that problem.

I'm inclined to agree and have never had anti virus software on before. I don't download from outside the play store or from spam and have no APK files. Maybe I'll uninstall Avast and put Adguard back on.

The redirecting was happening when reading Digital Spy so nothing untoward there! This site is just as bad as DS for ads which move the page down just as you're clicking on a link.

The only thing i can recommend is AdAway if you're rooted. Otherwise, everything else is useless. And any anti-virus/spyware apps for android are actually the virus.
