ADB help please

I would love to install froyo internally. However, I'm not completely comfortable installing the Gapps with ADB after. Can somebody point me to step by step instructions on how to do this? I've never used it before. Do I have to install SDK first? Thanks in advance.

I spent about 5 hours last night trying to get ADB to work without any luck. I am starting to think that my computer is the issue (security issues) because I repeated the steps several times...
