I have multiple gmail accounts and want to add all of them but only sync the contacts for one of them. Is this possible?

I believe that it is possible. I think the one account you would like to sync contacts with you add as the default gmail account you build the phone around. I don't know how you would unselect that.

When you add the second account, i believe you can choose what to sync.

Should be possible, I have my main account syncing contacts and my secondary Gmail syncing everything but contacts.

I have (3) gmail accounts for managing different things. I sync contacts/calendard/email for my primary and only email for the other two. You should be able to go to accounts and tap on the gmail account and check/uncheck what you want to sync. I am on a Droid X (going back to a DInc tomorrow) and it works that way so it should be the same.

I have a related question, as all of my Blackberry contacts are synced with Outlook. When I make the Android move in the next month, I plan to sync all of them (along with my Outlook calendar) to my new phone using HTC Sync.

However, I have a ton of contacts in my Gmail account, and I don't want them to sync to my phone. Is there a way I can prevent this when I first configure that account on my phone?

I think when your in the initial setup you can select what you want to sync in your Gmail account.

Yup. Settings->Accounts & Sync, under each Gmail account, you can configure what is synced for each account. Just check/uncheck what you want.

Sure. When you first set up the account, it starts syncing immediately, so it will put at least some contacts in there. Just go to Settings->Accounts & Sync, tap on your Gmail account, uncheck Contacts, and then delete any contacts that it synced. Then sync Outlook.
