Add gmail mail account only?

Is there a way to add an additionsl gmail mail account without it trying to sync everything else.

I know you can disable all it syncs but the account will still then show up in every other google app I use.

Unfortunately, it has to add the Google account system-wide, so you can't make it Gmail only.
