For the life of me, I can't get a ringtone on my Razr. I'm must just be stupid or something. I tried adding it to the internal memory and the SD card, but nothing shows up. I added it to my music library, but that didn't work either. It comes up with every option under the sun, except to set it as a ringtone. I've read forum after forum, and none of the suggestions are working. Am I just missing something completely obvious? I can't imagine that I can't do this on a phone this new... And don't tell me to just get Ringdroid or something like that, because that's not the way I want to do it.

Goto new Verizon Moto app My Music. Play the song u want for ur ringtone. While song is playing, select menu options, select more, select use as ringtone.

Another way is to create a "Media" folder on your device with sub folders for "ringtones" and "notifications". Drop your mp3 files into either of these folders and the Android system will recognize them when assigning notification tones. :)

That's media>audio>ringtones..

RingDROID and zedge automatically add them to the above folder ...

Good luck

How (and where) do you add the Media/audio/ringtone folders? I know how to add a folder on the home screen to put shortcuts, etc in, but this kind of folder must be something I am not familiar with.
I actually had my custom ringtones assigned to different contacts and working for several weeks, but now the phone doesn't recognize them anymore, even though I can see the ringtones (and play them) in a folder called Downloads in the Play Music app, and can also see the songs and play them in the My Music app. They just don't appear under the options/ringtones list when I try to reassign my downloaded ringtones to my contacts.
Thanks

I may be a late comer to this very problem, but I found the answer here.

You have to do it through my music , play music doesn't do it anymore

Just signed up to say THANKS! I looked all over for this info and found it here finally after an exhausting search.

On the Razr M, if your sound and music files are on SD, go to apps, open Files app, select SD card, tap new folder (lower screen icon with small + next to file), name folder "ringtones", OK. Repeat for "notifications" folder. Open the folder where your music/tones are located and hit the lower right icon (3 dots icon), select copy this folder then go back to the SD root using the upper left folder icon. Open your new ringtones or notifications folder and then hit "paste" in the upper right. You're DONE. When you go back into your ringtones section or into sounds-->notifications, you'll see your files and can select whatever you want!
