Here's a weird one.

If I don't sync my gmail contacts and enable facebook sync. When I text someone I don't get a name I only get the number. If I do of course then I get a name and picture. Why is that? And can I get around syncing Facebook contacts?

It has nothing to do with sync. If the sender is in people you should at least get the associated name. If you have set a pic it should be there as well. The is a gingerbread bug that is being patched soon. There are 2 workarounds in a thread just a few some from this one.
