We found out yesterday that Motorola's Xoom would be shipping sans Flash support on Verizon Wireless, and while Big Red claimed that an update would be doled out this spring, the folks at Adobe are pointing to a far more specific time frame. In a new post over at the Flash Platform Blog, Adobe has confirmed that "Flash Player 10.2 [will be] pre-installed on some tablets and as an OTA download on others within a few weeks of Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) devices becoming available, the first of which is expected to be the Motorola Xoom." We're guessing that the company's going public with a statement like this to fend off fears that the Xoom may be waiting an eternity for Flash, in essence removing a bit of fear from hesitant early adopters. Either way, it's excellent news for those eying a Honeycomb tablet of any flavor, and we're going to take the liberty of taking "a few weeks" to mean "a fortnight." Cool, Adobe?

Nice find... My question is will we ever see 10.2 on smartphones.

This is good news for the early adopters! Take it with a grain of salt, but still something to be a bit happy about!

This is gonna be our own version of Willy Wonka, with Xoom tablets playing the part of Wonka Bars, and Flash 10.2 in the role of the Golden Ticket.

Too funny!!!!!

They need to come out with an ad playing off of this. Live2Ride, you need to get in advertising stat! Talk about turning bad press into a viral campaign! Get people talking about your device and what it can do (if you are one of the lucky ones). And all they have to say is that starting March 1st all Xooms come with Flash 10.2

Brilliant Live2Ride!

sanjay jha as willy wonka
BB/vzw rep as store clerk
cparker5 as slugworth
zmenchhofer as Mike Teavee
tntdroid as Augustus Gloop
Live2ride883 as Oompa Loompa

Although I don't recall Oompa Loompas as being over 6 foot tall and riding a Harley

If I went into advertising I would have to quit working for Verizon.

Where I work they do not recognize or reward inspiration. You know that Xoom super bowl ad, well that could be my office building -the white head phones (no music allowed).

Xoom is not getting Flash 10.2 out of the box. It says that some Honeycomb tablets will be shipped with 10.2 meaning that some AFTER Xoom has been shipped. Basically it will be present out of the box on Samsung 10.1 and others, while early Xoom adopters will still lack 10.2 until OTA. After that, Motorola will most likely update their tabs for 10.2 to be shipped out of the box.
