Is anyone experiencing any issues with:
Delivered
Read
Typing...
In the default messaging app?

Had it working for a while now it doesn't seem to work at all between (at the least) my S8+ and wife's S8+ both on the same network.

Where do I poke around first?
Network
New Samsung phone
Or default messaging app

Thanks all

P.S. wasn't sure which forum to start this in exactly

Check it out. Love that app for text.

It may end up that way...

But I came from ATT and S7 Active and had zero issues with that so I'm just trying to narrow down if its something that will get worked out or where the hang up is ya, know?

I like squashing bugs ;)

If you're on Sprint I believe they removed that option to force you to use Android messages.

Nope T-Mobile. And the issue is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. That's what is strange to me.

Pretty sure you have to be texting with someone else on T-Mobile. And they have to have it enabled on their end as well.

My husband and I are having the same problem.

We just received our Samsung Galaxy S8s on Wednesday through T-Mobile (our carrier for the past 18 months). We both immediately noticed the delivered/read/typing notices in Messages and loved it (our 4-year-old previous phones didn't have that). Neither of us changed anything in our settings, so read receipt and typing notifications are still enabled. We did both get a software update through T-Mobile yesterday, and since then, the delivered/read/typing notices are gone.

It doesn't work even when we both have messaging open. I'm left to assume that it's something with the software update and perhaps they'll add it back in the next update. I may try contacting T-mobile tech support to see if they have any suggestions or if this is a known issue with the update.

I did contact T-Mobile. Their tech support person (Daniel) was incredibly UNhelpful, and when I pointed out that Husby and I were using the exact same model phone with the exact same settings, he hung up on me. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's when I noticed our issues too, but didn't want to jump to conclusions. Today I noticed delivered/read functioning again for a while with the wife. Might still be but were together so... not sure ;)
Typing... wasn't though.

We've been testing on and off all day today, but not in the same room. Tried out Textra too, but I'm not willing to give up scheduling messages in the stock app. So far no changes. I did make my displeasure with T-Mobile's customer service known when they sent a survey for my inquiry.

Let me know if you learn anything from t-mobile

I've contacted T-Mobile through Facebook. Hopefully they will have an answer, and maybe others will weigh in on the same issue. I'll let you know if they say anything helpful. :-)

My family is on tmobile and I haven't noticed any issues. I actually sent my wife a nonsense text just to double check and everything seems to be working just fine. I'm on the S8 plus and she's on the S8.

So, we went through an extensive troubleshooting process via FB messenger with T-Mobile. Husby and I are not the only ones who noticed that the delivered/read/typing notifications weren't working. We went through wiping the phone's cache, then later a full factory reset (after backing up of course), and a bunch of other we-don't-know-why-this-sometimes-works-but-try-it-anyway things, like toggling the read receipts and typing indications off, texting, then toggling them back on. Lots of restarts. Nothing made any change.

Note that texting itself works just fine. It's just that before Friday evening when we installed the latest Android OS update that was pushed out through T-Mobile (our carrier; I'm presuming other carriers pushed it out to their customers too), we'd get "delivered," "read," and "So-and-so is typing" notifications and now we do not.

The current theory is that it was something in the OS update. The T-Mobile CSRs I "typed" with through Facebook were very helpful and are going to check it out on their Android forums and also send it up the line so that hopefully whoever is responsible for the next Android OS update will fix this part.

If someone else has the S8/S8+ and had these delivered/read/typing notifications working, and *did* update the Android OS that just came out, and the delivered/read/typing notifications are *still* working, I'd be really interested in what settings might be different between our phones and theirs.

If this was just my phone and Husby's didn't have the same issue, I'd think it was something with the phone. But it's both of ours, and it happened at the same time (within an hour), and it was working prior to the update. That's all I've got for now.

I have the tmobile S8 plus, did the update the night it released. And haven't had any issues at all with the advanced text messaging.

Here's crappy tablet pics of my settings...

At least you guys have those settings. Sprint removed them I'm guessing to force us to use Android Messages. We didn't even get the stock messaging app on the v20 and the enhanced messaging option was removed on the note 7 too. Howeverh wife's s7 still has the option.

Textra does have scheduled messages (although not regular/recurring):

1. Once the message is composed, press the "+" button on the bottom left of the message.
2. In the Tools bar that appears on the bottom of the screen, press the clock looking icon (located about center).
3. 'Date' and 'Time' Fields will appear.
4. Enter the date and time you wish to send the message.
5. Press the send arrow and your message is placed into the sending cue.
6. Tapping the completed message afterward allows you to reschedule or unschedule the message. To do so, find the clock icon and press it. You can now edit the date and time.

So, to recap, our advanced messaging (the delivered/read/typing notifications) stopped working on 4/21/17 at about 7pm, right after updating the Android OS pushed out by T-Mobile. I did a cache wipe (no change) and a full factory reset (no change). I contacted Samsung, didn't get a response. Then I gave up, hoping for a change when the next update came through.

My settings match those above from Mr_Spencer, who was not having these issues.

I continued to text, without the advanced messaging.

At 2:49 p.m. CDT on 4/25/17, the advanced messaging features suddenly started working again, for both Husby and me (we were texting when it suddenly showed up, on both our phones, at the same time). Neither of us had changed anything in our settings. The only unusual thing was that I'd sent him four consecutive MMS messages, and the very next text I sent to him, the advanced messaging features were back.
