Advantages of App to SD card?

So, here's a newbie question for ya:

What's the advantage of moving an app to the SD card?

Does it increase your available RAM and/or CPU% available?

My question stems from the fact that I just got a D2 when my D1 headphone jack was a little messed up. (For free too! Thanks Verizon) Anyways, I am all too familiar with the horrible battery life and I was hoping the D2 would be better, but alas, not so much. So, in my quest to get better battery life and faster processing, I'm thinking maybe I have too many apps? All I'm really running is facebook and the news and weather app, and I still only have around 50 MB of CPU available. I turn off GPS when unnecessary and have email sync set up on a fetch schedule.

I just realized my question has evolved here, but what should I do? :o

Thanks!

IMO, there isn't much a benefit with the D2 since its has a massive amount of internal memory. Moving them to storage doesn't decrease their RAM imprint

Thanks Bushido. So what would increase my RAM imprint? Or is it something I should even be concerned about? I am equating RAM availability to D2 processing speed.

I guess browsing and loading internet pages would be my main complaint as well as low available RAM. I generally have about 50 of 477 available.

no your not i would expect a phone with this much ram running at this clockspeed to be speedy i think the main issue is poor coding of apps and to many background services

I know, you would think right? If I have 477 mb of ram why do I only have 50ish available when I've got nothing going on?

i wish i knew but if it were me i wouldnt load this phone with apps that are useles and you cant kill i would want this phone to be a beast and that would mean actually doing a good job in coding apps also ripping apps that are resource hogs out of it. just my .02 but a2sd is useless will probably slow down the performance of said app just use that 8gb of rom to its fullest

Have you tried clearing out your cache..??

I'm not a computer nerd, so that's just random input, free of charge.

Loading an internet page is a highly subjective example, because of countless amount of factors that affect such a problem.

Clearing your cache is a good start, however I would suggest comparing it to an iPhone/ iPod touch or another high end Android device for reference. You could even use YouTube to find browser speed comparisons. This will give you an idea if your phone is actually under performing or not.

I will clear out my cache and see what happens. I also got Quadrant from the market and plan on running that to see if I'm delusional or not. Good idea about comparing it to an iPhone too. Thanks fellas.
