Found someone selling a slightly used Evo from the Google I/O for $400 cash. I'm only eligible for $75 from sprint which puts me at $418 with taxes. Would be nice to have a brand new one for $18 more, but don't really want to restart my eligibility from scratch.

You should go with new. You are eligible for $75, right? So it will be another year before you are eligible for $150. Being eligible for $75 means you're not currently a Sprint Premier customer. However, getting the EVO will force you to get the everything data plan, which will automatically make you a premier customer. You still won't be eligible for the $150 for a year, but as a premier customer you will be eligible for it every year, not every 2.

So, for an extra $18, you get new customer pricing on handsets every year...

Unless you are the secondary (or further down the line) phone on the account which then you wouldn't ever become eligible for 12 month upgrades and it would make sense to buy the used phone and get a 22 month upgrade next Spring...

Get the used one... hell it's only a couple weeks old, and plus your buying it off contract. That's a steal!

We are premier customers but I'm not the primary line, that was upgraded 6 months ago. We do have one line eligible for the $75 and that is my line. I'd like to save it and keep my options open in the next 6 months to a year. Going the used route I'm eligible in April of 2011 for a full upgrade and the primary line in December of this year.

Used is looking better.

If they're in good shape and you can see them before payment, go for it!

Staying off contract is the best, and thats not a bad deal at all!

Sorry, the not primary line thing occurred to me after I posted. I was just too lazy to edit...plus I was looking at EVO videos ;-)
