I have been looking for an alternative to the $130 motorola photon hd dock. Namely the Motorola droid x and DROID2 hd dock sell for about $25 with shipping. I am sure months from now when there is someting new and great the hd photon dock will drop in price just like the droid hd dock but for now i am curious if the droid hd dock is compatible with the photon.

Unless something has changed that I am not aware of, the $130 dock is actually $99.99 now. Also, if you are Premier, you can buy a 2nd accessory and get 25% off both. So you can already get this dock for close to 50% off what you thought it cost.

Granted, that's not $25 like you were hoping for, but it is a significant savings.

The $130 price is motorolas' MSRP on the superdock. Sprint sells it for $99 and as stated above, 25% off for 2 or more accessories. I wouldnt get a knock off , this dock is legit and works amazingly well.

it would be great if someone just made a dock that would charge the phone and activate the clock.... I don't need the super-dock :-)

Pull out the kickstand and charge it #SuperClock yes?

Unless I'm mistaken, you can not do this. With the USB plugged in, you can not use the kickstand... unless you drill a hole in your desk/table/counter where your USB comes through the bottom (side) of the phone.

The kickstand sorta works in both orientations, and unlike Netflix the clock works in both landscape modes.

Sure you can, you just flip the phone over so the cord plugs in on the top. Works just fine in clock mode this way.

Isn't that what I said? ;)

Sort of, (since you asked) you said "both orientations", which to me means portrait and landscape, which I was aware of. When djmiked said you could flip the phone over and plug it in the top, that clarified for me what you both were speaking to.

Aha, yep, you caught me - I meant both "landscape" orientations and only assumed people got that since the kicstand was out and "locking" the phone into landscape.

Well played my friend, well played.

I find the kickstand to be a little flimsy in inverted landscape mode.

^^This. And, I noticed that Sprint TV does not invert (or it did not for me today). So, to watch Sprint TV, it must be in "plug down" mode (if you will).
