After 8.1, Battery will not charge to 100%

Hey Forum Folks!!
New to the forum, but I searched around and didn't see any post about this particular issue. If you know it is posted somewhere, please link me.

Basically, my phone was draining hardcore the first few days I got it, so i deleted a bunch of third party apps and it seemed to fix the issue. Then 8.1 was released and installed and since then, my battery only gets to 99% and will not say 100%. At times I can get it to go to 100% if i load in safe mode, or do all of this gadgetry. I spoke with Google and they think it was a hardware issue and is sending me a replacement phone, but wanted to know if anyone else encountered issues like this and any remedies?

How long did you have it charge from 99% to 100%? Sometimes restarting and turning off/turning on cell phone will help.

Other than that.. The december 8.1 might have some bugs.. It's been draining battery more than usual.

I've had phones that only went as high as 99% on a full charge. My P2 does hit 100% but if it didn't I'd most likely be OK with it as long as the battery life was as it should be. After the 8.1 update my 100% battery only lasts a few seconds anyway.

yeah. it might only be for sanity purposes of having to see the 100%, but it just makes me question whether or not the damn thing has a real problem with the battery or whatever, Pixel 2 XL too by the way.

i did a few different tests and screenshotted it for google. I got to 98% (3 minutes remaining) and i waited about 35-40 minutes later and it was only at 99%. Waited about 10 minutes longer and it did not reach 100%. I know 1 measly % point isnt a huge deal, and like cbreze said, it only lasts a few seconds (so might be mental), but it has me questioning whether or not there are other flaws/bugs or issues with either the phone (hardware) or the 8.1 software. Google seemed to think it was hardware and my new device should be here today and i will check it and probably update to 8.1 immediately since my return policy ends on saturday.

odd.. might be hardware after all. i just charged up and turned the phone off and on again..while still plugged in. dropped to 98%. i will keep it plugged in to see if it hits 100%. i just hope the new device doesn't do this.

on a site note, what cases and screen protectors (if any) did all of you choose? since i wasn't sure if i was going to keep it, i got a less expensive screen protector, but it kind of sucks and lets air get under the sides for whatever reason. and i have a Spigen thin case on it.
thoughts on cases / protectors?

also, my plan was once i received my $100 store credit, to buy the Google store Power screen protector.. figured it would be the best since Google partnered with them.

I'm a battery observer (compulsive?). My Pixel 2 XL takes a long time to get to 100%. It will charge fairly quickly to about 90% or so, then charge somewhat slowly to 98%. But those last 2 percentage points seem to take a long time. When it says "99%, 3 minutes to full", it takes 10 minutes, 15 minutes or more. I haven't timed it out though. But it will get to 100% eventually. I'm still on 8.0.

I've had this issue since the beginning....I don't know what it is... it's also very random... if I shut the phone off on the charger and then let it charge for a while and then turn it on it was register 100 percent.... today... it charged from 15 to 100 in just under two hours...I am keeping an eye on it... battery life has been great but this charging issue can be annoying

Mine is draining faster than a USB 2.0 cable can charge it on a PC! And the 8.1 update has basically bricked my phone. It is almost non-responsive. Takes over 20 seconds just to get the SETTINGS page to appear after touching the gear icon. I am running an LG V-20. sorry to say, on Straight-talk...

I received my replacement device today. And it's not ready for 8.1 apparently. Google said I have to wait until my IMEI receives the update

yes we will see. i got my replacement to get to 100% and it stayed there for about 15 minutes or so.... so i am not sending my original back until i get 8.1 and see if that was an issue.. but i will say some of the features are working better/more fluidly on my new device.

yah. the only reason i am tempted to download 8.1 again, is to see if it is truly software vs hardware. and to know that nothing was wrong with my original device. but i guess it doesnt really matter in hind sight??
