AC Question

i dropped my phone and the screen still worked until i restarted it now i have a black screen

I dropped my phone about 7-8 inches from my table to a (soft) pad on the kitchen chair. Immediately after it worked but after i restarted it the screen has stayed black and i cannot see anything even though i can hear it boot up and bottom buttons light up and the home screen button also appears to work? I am not sure if there is a way to fix this or if i have to use my insurance to replace the entire phone. PLEASE help i am sooooo lost without my phone.

It may simply be an easily-repaired loose connection or it may be screen failure. Whatever the fault it's going to need skilled attention.

Did you purchase this phone directly from a service provider? If so I would take it back to one of their stores and see if they can repair it. I've had to do this a couple of times with devices purchased from Verizon.

If the phone is under warranty, the carrier will most likely replace it. If not, use the insurance. There are 3 possibilities that come to mind immediately:

1) The LCD screen broke.

2) The LED screen (the lights behind the LCD Screen) broke. (Most likely, IMO.)

3) A connection popped off somewhere. That's an easy one to fix, but once you open the phone to fix it, you've voided both the warranty and the insurance, so you're on your own.

Replacing the whole screen assembly, LED, LCD, touchscreen and glass, is an easy repair, but only once you've broken a few phones learning how to do it. (It's easier than making a grilled cheese sandwich without having the cheese drip over the edges of the bread - really.) I don't recommend that anyone who has to ask what the problem is, try to do a repair like that themselves. What you break will cost a lot more to repair than what you would have saved.

If you drop a phone, it's not a warranty replacement. It would be insurance. Hopefully you have the insurance.
