after new update/ whenever I hit the homescreen button this touchwiz scren comes up

After the new update I did on Friday 3/6 every time I hot my hoe screen button a window pops up that says " Use touchwiz home as Home" you can select just once or always. No matter which I select a screen pops up thats says "clear default app settings by going to settings - apps -defaults applications - and tapping clear. - Now every time I want to go to my home screen I have to go through this process first! Also, my battery is draining really fast since this update. I have spent 4 hours of tech support between Verizon and Samsung with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did they walk you through how to do a cache clear? that might be a great starting point for you


Edit... just in case they did not, try it . Power off your phone, now hold down your home button power button and volume up button at the same time until your phone boots into the recovery menu. use your volume rocker to select wipe cache and hit the power button to make it happen

Thank you Systemofadown! FYI Hypnotize is one of my top 3 gym songs behind Break Stuff and Down with the Sickness! I did what you said and I have nevre been told to do this. I will let you know if it works. I pray it works because this update has really effected my job in a bad financial way.

I have 8 hours of tech support and all it did is make my phone worse after the update. I dont know what to do anymore. Now my wi fi wont turn on.

You might have to do a factory data reset (FDR) kind of like a total clean install.

Edit... if it does come down to a FDR, backup your contacts, pictures and other important stuff onto your laptop with samsung kies because Everything will be erased.

I still need help with this. I did 2 factory resets with no success. I have countless hours of tech support and the touchwiz continues to pop up. Verizon or Samsung will not replace my phone like they are replacing everyone elses because I have a tiny crack in it. The crack didnt effect anything. It was this damn lollipop update!

A shot in the dark here....download and install another launcher from the play store (such as Nova). Set the alternative launcher as your default. Then set Touchwiz as your default, and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, you can then uninstall the alternative launcher (unless you want to stick with it).

My wife tried that.... Installing nova and then selecting Touchwiz as default. No good.

I am still having this problem. I cannot fix it and I dont want to pay a 100.00 deductible on a new phone like Verizon wants me to. This isn't even my fault. Any other ideas?

I have the same problem didn't see this when I posted. I have cleared the cache partition too and really don't want would do a factory reset.
