After Oreo Battery Drains Fast

I got the OTA (not in beta) a couple of days ago and now my battery is draining fast. I removed from charging this morning and in about an hour and half or so I went from 100% to about 83%. looking at my battery usage in settings shows nothing weird (instagram 2%, photos 1% etc) and I barely actually used my phone in that time.

Last night I did a system cache clear through recovery mode hoping that would help, but it didn't.

Anyone else seeing this or have any other ideas of how to stop the drain?

Yes, same problem. The phone isn't sleeping like it used to. I'm down to 50% after work when it used to be over 80.
It's 11 hours but most of it is Sat in my locker doing nothing.
Waiting for an update now because it's nothing I've done. I haven't installed a new app in months.

Ditto. I updated to Oreo about 1 week ago (I'm not rooted, wasn't on beta) and battery seems to be dying fast. Cleared cache, but that hasn't helped. I haven't d/l any unusual apps or done anything out of the ordinary after the update, but it still seems battery is draining a bit faster than it was before the update.

You might try starting the phone in safe mode. If the battery drain is still happening in safe mode, then try a factory reset. If the drain doesn't happen in safe mode, you'll know you've got one or more apps that aren't compatible with Oreo. Then again, sometimes updates just screw up no matter how they're applied. You may need to sideload the OTA (or flash the factory image) manually.

My experience with Oreo is that the phone makes fuller use of deep sleep than it used to in order to save battery. Course I just replaced my 6P's battery, so my experience may be atypical.

Phone sat on the side for an hour and a half this morning, still on 100% when I picked it up. Would seem to be sorted because last week it would have been down to about 95 or less

Mine did the opposite.
I've been on RTM since the first (real release) day, straight from Beta->RTM.

Battery was great, quite a change from 7.12 (I had a worsening battery experience with 7.11-7.12).
Then, today, Google (app, if I break it down by system it still lists Google, along with A. Services) drained 27%, in about an hour, and the weird thing is, it used very little data in the process.
Then, it "leveled off", and has only drained about 1% in the 5 hours since (I only have the exact numbers because I had charged it shortly before this happened).

Weird stuff, and I hope whatever cleanup or other process the Google app was doing, will limit itself from here on out (and respect the battery options, background was set to "off" for it).

Back in my locker at work it's still draining more than it should be. Whether it's because it's struggling for a signal and not sleeping I don't know. Seems fine at home

Good idea, I'll try that tomorrow. It's a steady drain in my locker but it was ok before oreo

My phone did this again yesterday, Google(app) drained 29% in about 2 hours, all while "supposedly in the foreground", yeah, except that I don't think I ever actually used it yesterday.

I did notice there was an app update for Google(app) immediately before this all started, obviously very interesting.

No one else is seeing this issue, since the update (Google app, not Oreo, that wasn't an issue for me, until the app update came through)?

2 hours in my locker in airplane mode and came out at 100%.
Might try in safe mode tomorrow see if it's an app
