Is it easy to change the sprint on the bottom of the status bar and lock screen? If so how?

If you flash ROMs like CodeNameAndroid or AOKP they have the mod/option under settings for you to put a custom "Carrier ID" in place as that is referred to....

Otherwise it takes decompiling the ROM and and modifying XML to get it changed manually to something else.
