After update to nougat Google play music won't read my music from sd card. Any help?

Have done auto update to nougat 7.0 and now having issues with phone reading sd card data despite it being visible. Can anyone help?

Using your favorite file browser app, can you correctly navigate the SD card?
If you manually select one of the music files on the card using the file browser, will it play?
