AirDroid App

Read this online article about the AirDroid App. It can be used on stock and rooted phones. Has anyone tried it? If so, does it work well? Thanks.

I downloaded AirDroid but am disappointed with a couple of features. First, it won't read the external SD card, only the internal card. I save all of my pics to the external card. Second, you have to use Chrome to be able to drag & drop files, transfer files, etc. I don't like Chrome. I like AirDroid's easy user interface, but the things I mentioned are sort of deal killers for me, unless there is a way around this or another app that works as well.

I access my external sd card fine. It's under a special folder.

I started using it recently and find it's okay. I do have one question though. I use a task killer to get rid of unnecessary apps from memory. Unless I'm looking to move some files, this would include Airdroid. The task killer does its thing okay, then five seconds later, I hear a notification ping, and there's Airdroid back in memory. I checked the settings, and have open at Startup switched to off, but it still keeps showing up. It's irritating me so much I'm on the verge of uninstalling it. Maybe it does no harm, but if I'm not using it, it has no need to be in memory. Is this supposed to happen, or am I just missing something?

Just wanted to chime in and comment on Airdroid. It faired well while I found it useful to browse/sort/tranfer files wirelessy, (cool right?), then stirred up a bit of nonsense a short while back when I decidde to delete it. I found it running constantly in the background chewing up RAM I could use elsewhere as I didnt need it all that bad (it was more "cool factor" than uselful for me) and decided it was time for the app to go. To my surprise, when trying to remove it using my application manager I found the needed fileds for removeal were greyed out. Then trying to uninstall from the play store I only have the option to "open" the app or "deactivate", as opposed to the option to uninstall like all apps Ive experienced over the last several years using Android. When opting to deactivate, it claimed the app had device administator privealages and would not allow me to deactivate, thus cannot uninstall! So, I wanted to come here and offer a bit of help incase you opt to unstall this app yourself in the future. Within the app, once signed in, go to the app settings and uninstall the app from within the app itself, there is an option within settings to "uninstall" the application. That is the only way. It seemed a big deal to me because I have never seen this type of app behavior ever, being an Android user since the G1 became in existence years back! Hope this helps somone attempting to uninstall the app in the future! (galaxy note 2)

First things first. No need for a task killer. This will cause issues and in some cases drain your battery more. Second, I've had airdroid since I got my note 2 and never has my battery suffered. I recommend using gsam from the market and seeing exactly what is draining your battery.
