Has anyone used the Incredible yet as an MP3 player only in airplane mode using standard battery? I was wondering what kind of life expectancy I might get. It barely lasts a day, so I assume a 13 hr flight would probably be out/

MP3 player doesn't seem to take up much battery at all... With the phone in flight mode, I don't see why it wouldn't last 13 hours... or more...

it will last a minimum of 10 hours as only an MP3 player. it might even last 15 or more.

the other night i streamed music over wifi using the Rhapsody app for 3 hours straight with the screen on 90% of that time and i still have 75% of my battery left. so that's 12 hours of streaming music over wifi with Rhapsody on a single charge.

so i'd imagine playing music off of the internal memory or SD card would use even less power resulting in even better battery life.

i guess i should also list that this was using an OEM 1500Mah htc battery charged with an external charger. so the stock 1300 charged by the phone itself will see slightly worse, but still good performance.

Radios turned off (airplane mode), screen off, just listening to your music it will last awhile. My phone on normal with everything on screen off playing music for 3-4 hours straight (SD card not streamed) it only used like 15-20% of my battery. So you should be able to stretch it out to at least 10-12 hours pretty easily with airplane mode on.

I used it on a 7 hour flight and it lasted me through the whole flight. It was down to 80% battery when I got on the plane and I had about 30% when I turned it off for landing. If you make sure it is at full charge when you board, you should be good to go. :)

Yeah that sounds about right for the usage. What was the standby time on this phone? Wasn't it like 45 hours? So if everything was turned off and you where just listening to music I don't see why you couldn't get 1/3 of that time at 12-15 hours. Of course battery discharge rates vary phone to phone.

I have about 16 hours on a plane to look forward to later this month, I may end up getting a second battery to make sure I make it through this one.

Have you thought about one of the 3500maH extra chargers. You carry it with your plug your cable into it and then the phone and you have 3500maH extra in your pocket.

I will have to look into that. Sounds like a handy thing to keep around.

Thanks for the linkage I couldn't remember the name of it to save my life.

here's one of those extra chargers Qazme is talking about: Primo Battery Cube for SmartPhones

from what i've seen its pretty cool if it does indeed work

I just got one here is what it looks like , its charging right now :)

Nice that's smaller than I thought it was, give us some feedback about how it charges etc. I would like to know how many times you can charge with it, and how long it takes.

Yeah its kinda cool, Looks bigger when lying beside the phone though. I have it charged now and plan on using it to see how many charges I can get out of it.It did not take long to charge up the actual cube ( I did from computer to trickle slow charge it) ,on the link to their website(post#14) there is a picture of how the mini usb and micro usb connects fold up inside. .It does come with a year warranty and has both micro usb /mini usb ports (the male and female connections on the cube for both types.)

Ok here is what I found out when I used the "cube"

Since I have the factory battery still this "cube" can "just" refill it back to full strenght no more Once you charge "almost " a totally dead battery "the cube" can recharge you back but thats it then it needs a recharge itself.

It takes about the same amount of time to charge from the "cube" as it does from wall charger.

It takes over an hour to recharge the "cube" totally full again.(I forgot exactly how long just know its over an hour ) ha

When "cube" is fully charged it says to unhook from computer so I haven't left connected after it got its full charge on.

If you do bump charge with the "cube" , the cube shuts itself off when the battery is full.
My phone was off when I recharged with the "cube"
The little lights on the "cube" let you know how much of a charge it still has left.

Bacically it like having an extra factory size battery with you , I can see it helping when not able to charge phone due to not being able to plug phone in or being in a car that doesn't have a cigarettte lighter in the car. But an extra battery would work too just another way of doing it I guess , LoL :D
