Alarm Clock Sound Issue

Whenever my alarm goes off in the morning, it only vibrates and does not have any sound. On previous Galaxy phones, the alarm sound would go off, even when the phone volume was set to vibrate.
What could be causing this problem?

In my case the device has scheduled do not disturb set. I've discovered the alarm ring won't over riide and vibrate alarm only. I deselected and and alarm rings now.

Correct, you can actually go into "Do Not Disturb" and add "Alarm Clock" to Apps or Callers that can bypass DND! That's what I've done - I selected to have "My Favorites" from my "Contacts" list overide and then added the Apps I wanted to ignore DND, as well! It works!!!

EDIT: I just looked and remembered, I'm not sure when it changed, but you can't select individual Apps any more - now it's: Alarms>Media Sounds>Touch Sounds>Calendar Events>Reminders - I have Alarms, Calendar Events and Reminders selected as well as my Favorite Contacts!
