alarm not going off during phone calls

so I switched from an iPhone to a galaxy s5 about a week ago, and on my iPhone when I had an alarm set and I was on the phone it would go off normally. that doesn't happen with my galaxy, it just like makes a loud beep and that's all, and I'm wondering how to fox this.
