Alarm wont stop!!

In the mornings when my girls alarm goes off it wont stop. It just goes and goes and goes. Toggling the sounds rocker does nothing, dismissing the alarm does nothing. The only way to get the alarm to shut the #$!@ up is to turn the phone off.

The phones is not rooted. Its running stock 2.2. I did put Handcent SMS on her phone and we've noticed that if she has a message thru Handcent this issue occurs. Anyone else had this issue or know of a fix? We'd prefer not to get rid of Handcent but will if needed.

Handcent is a popular program I haven't ever heard anyone else having this issue. I don't think Handcent is causing your problem have you/she loaded any other programs on that EVO?

I had the same issue. Just started uninstalling latest app. and then "testing" the alarm (set one for 2 min. from now). Can't remember if it was Zedge or App Brain, but removing one of those fixed mine, hasn't done it since.
I don't have Handcent installed on my phone, btw.

Malibo ringtones and quite a few games. Im going to just start deleting stuff and see if that helps.

It definitely appears to be handcent in our case. Traditionally when the alarm goes off there is a snooze and dismiss option...but when there is a text message waiting to be viewed thru handcent, the alarm wakes the phone up and the first thing displayed is the text, we exit from the text window then it takes us to the lock screen, after unlocking the phone there is no option to dismiss or snooze the alarm and our issue begins....

After removing handcent and going back to the standard sms app the issue no longer exists.

I had the same problem and upon deletion of No Lock by BOD, the problem went away.

I had this problem happen once (not rooted). Seemed kind of random, since it's worked fine all other times... granted I've only used the alarm a few times. I don't think it has to do with any particular app being installed... I suspect it's a random OS bug.

If you like Handcent, you might want to turn off the popup notifications or set them to private so they don't popup when the phone is locked.

My wife and I are both having this exact problem, and I determined it to be exactly as you describe above. To add to it though, it didn't use to do it, it just started within the last update or 2 of handcent. It's very common for me to wake up in the morning with a text and then the alarm goes nuts.

Mine just started this too. In my case, it was Lock Screen Switch. I deleted this and the problem went away.

I do have Handcent and set to pop up toast when a message comes in. Handcent was not the problem.

Not rooted, stock 2.2....

hmm..interesting..same problem here..finally looking up in the forums because it's pretty consistent now.
Note: it's happened for me for quite awhile now. I don't have Handcent installed, but I do have one of the No Lock programs/widgets. I'm going to uninstall it and see what happens. Will check back with an update for other's info.
However, this was happening before I installed No Lock....

The uninstall of No Lock has proven effective now.
This is unfortunate for me on the other hand because I REALLY miss that app. I hate the lock screen. Time-out is fine, but I want to awake it unlocked. Can't use the phone Alarm snooze via the volume rocker now among other issues.

I had the same problem, but a different cause.

4.2.2 BUG: the default Clock app's alarm is unstoppable when "Show notifications" is unchecked in Settings/Apps/ALL/Clock. So check it!
