Alcatel owners, are your Gallery and other apps being replaced by sketchy versions?

I've been seeing this in the news today, which is mind-bogglingly awful -- are all Alcatel owners affected?

For Alcatel's sake, I hope this is because someone stole the app keys, and not because Alcatel thought it'd be a good idea to foist awful and invasive apps on its customers -- especially core apps. But none of the possibilities instill any kind of confidence.
