Ok, I see more and more people are starting to dive into unlocking and rooting their phones. A talented dev took his time to not only make this toolkit, but made great updates to it, to make things a lot easier.

[TOOL] HTC One X (Evita) All-In-One Toolkit V2.1 [1-22-2013] [PERM ROOT][Noob-Proof] - xda-developers

I AM NOT TAKING CREDIT FOR THIS GUYS WORK, just posting this link here for those that are toying around with the idea of custom roms. Make sure you read through the OP in the thread to make sure you understand what to do (it is fairly simple, but first timers may shy away because it looks difficult).

This is how I got started, now I just use Flash GUI app if I need to fastboot flash to a different rom.

Does the viper xl that you are beta testing drop soon?

Yes....Go bookmark the forum over at xda, should be up by the end of the weekend, or early next week (guessing)

Here's what I would love to do, send you my ATT HOX with a card that says "Viper 3.2 please" or fly you to the godforsaken 10 below zero land of Minneapolis and have you lead me through this! HAHA!

I really want to get in on this rooting. But, I have an office and house full of macs. Any easy way to root my HOX via mac or am I SOL?

Thanks a bunch.

I believe there is a way, but there is no toolkit. It's a more drawn out process (As far as i know). See if you have any friends or family that will let you do this on their PC, tell them all you are doing is installing drivers, and an application. Neither of which is harmful to their pc.

Haha, ya I'm in Indiana... two days ago it was 60 degrees.. now its 0. If ya lived a couple hundred miles closer, I'd consider it haha

Thank you. Every iPhone and iPad I've had has been jailbroken but that seems to be an easier process. Regardless, I still want to join the community as I would like to have more control over my phone and utilize Jelly Bean without waiting for HTC or AT&T.

Also, I grew up in Fort Wayne, so I feel your pain with the changes in temperature. Today it was 66 and I wore a jacket. It's amazing how quickly you get used to the "cold" weather.

I think this is because AT&T has been so darn slow in releasing JB. I had been patiently waiting and finally got fed up and rooted the phone. Looking back, I'm actually glad that AT&T has been so slow and that I didn't update through them. I'm now running Viper XL 3.2.1 and would never go back to stock.

My advice is to just root and be done with it. :D

Took the words right outta my mouth. :)

AT&T HTC One X powered by ViperXL 3.2.1

For sure.. I've been beta testing that new update for about a week, it was already stream lined when us beta testers got it. Turge is a great Dev

Maybe someone here can help me. This is frustrating me...
I have a One X on 1.85 and nothing is working for me to root or unlock bootloader.
I did the OTA exploit for root that came out in July I think and I had root, but nothing was working. Couldn't unlock bootloader, couldn't get OTA JB update or any other update.
Thinking that it might help, I factory reset my phone. Now I'm in the same position as before but now no more root!
Any help would be appreciated. This all-in-one toolkit here stops working at the xfactor exploit. When it tries to restore, the phone just immediately says Restore ending.. and the CID isn't 1111111.

If you haven't read this link out thoroughly check it out [INDEX] AT&T/ROGERS One X Resources Compilation Roll-Up (Updated 3/18/13) - xda-developers Scroll down and find a stock RUU 2.20 factory rom and flash. That is if you have the Evita HOX. DO NOT USE IF ITS INTERNATIONAL!!!!!!. Flashing the wrong rom on the wrong handset will brick it.
You need to be locked in the boot loader which you can do with the AOTk.
Lock the bootloader
Run the RUU
unlock the bootloader
flash TWRP
flash SuperSu
Make a full back up and copy to your PC in a folder for future help
Find a custom rom you like then start flashing
If you find a rom you like and want to maybe go back, make a folder on the PC something like Rom Backups and back up the rom you like then store it on the PC in that folder. At a later time when you want to go back just wipe, and restore the backup. Works everytime for me
