I haven't found a way to make calls from Favorites ring while in Sleep mode.

I use the Modes > Sleep function to turn things off at night. I set it to allow the Media player to work so I can play hypnosis type tracks when in bed while nothing else can disturb me.

However, I need to allow Favorites in my Contacts to ring at all times. I do have DND set to allow Favorites to call, and calls from Favorites do come through when in Sleep mode rather than go to voicemail, but there's no ringing sound! I can see the call coming in if I look at the screen, but there's no sound.

Depends on the phone manufacturer I guess, on my P8P and my wife's P6 I know I can select certain contacts to ring through.

SOLVED

I've played with every possible setting and combination of settings. What I've concluded is that there's a flaw in the implementation of Modes > Sleep. When it's activated it overrides the custom settings one has set in Do Not Disturb. Regardless of whether one has told Sleep to activate Do Not Disturb or not and regardless of all other sound settings everywhere, Sleep will silence all incoming calls including Favorites even if Do Not Disturb is set to allow calls from Favorites in Contacts to ring.

This is very inconvenient for me for one reason, and I'm sure it's equally inconvenient for many other users, too, for the same reason:

All I wanted Modes > Sleep to do for me is 1) enable Do Not Disturb and 2) set the screen display to Grayscale (located in Accessibility > Vision Enhancements > Color Correction but provided as a direct option in Sleep settings).

Grayscale is a very nice choice when going to sleep and leaving the phone on the nightstand, along with, of course, Do Not Disturb -- especially with DND set to allow Favorites to ring.

Apparently, Sleep always silences Favorites even if the only things it's told to do is implement Grayscale . It doesn't even indicate that it has activated DND.

The available alternative is to avoid using Sleep mode and instead just activate DND when going to sleep. Then, DND does what it's been told to do in settings, which in my case is to silence everything except incoming calls from contacts that are marked as Favorites.

Then, to get the screen to Grayscale with an additional tap, I did this:

Settings > Accessibility > Vision Enhancements > Color Correction >

- Color Correction Shortcut ON; set it to create a button in the Quick Settings panel
- set it to Grayscale

Then move the button in Quick Settings to the top next to where I had already put DND.

Now, I pull down the Quick Settings panel and tap:
- DND
- Color Correction (which is grayscale)

It's the same number of taps as pulling down the Quick Settings panel and selecting Modes > Sleep.
