Alternate calling apps...

I was going to just use skype to make most of my calls and cat back my bill to the $35 unfortunately skype is a piece of **** when it comes to tech support and every time i try to use my card [i use it on other internet sites all the time] or paypal it gives me a error so apparently they don't want my money.

I tried nettalk and it seems alright though it force closes a bit to often and is a semi-reliable backup for not using any minutes I suppose.

I would love to use google voice to make outgoing calls but as you all know it won't allow you to use it on prepaid phones. Is there any kind of work around to use google voice on the V ?

Or what is your prefered alternate dialing app i may never have heard of.

Or point me to another thread if all this has already been discussed for this phone.

EDIT: If worse comes to worse i will pay the $55/m for unlimited minutes just looking to go on the cheap if its doable.
EDIT2: I am aware of grooveip but i am using backside rom and i am pretty sure one of the still remaining known issues is grooveip force closing yes?

GrooVeIP in use here too. I'm using an IHO ROM (not backside) and it works wonderfully. Maybe it's time to try a different ROM if the one you are using doesn't support something you want to use.

If you decide to get GrooVeIP, check the amazon appstore, the other day it was on sale for $1.99, not sure if it still is or not though.

IHO-PURE supports GrooVeIP great. I have been using it for over a week now with no problems.

Grooveip seems to work fine. However the sound quality is a bit off.

I wish they had "TextFree with Voice" for Android. Works awesome on the iPod touch for texting and calling.

weird issue lately...whenever groove ip is running, i cant make a call either with the stock app :/ i have to stop groove ip and then everythings ok. btw...im using v 1.2.1

I just use Google Voice. It doesn't seem to have any trouble with it being a prepaid phone--I never heard about that being a problem. It works over wifi or 3G.

Google Voice works on the Optimus V, sorta. You can still forward calls to it, but you can't set it up to use GV for voicemail instead of VM's voicemail. I left the call announce option on...so now I get the voicemails in GV, and I get a voicemail on my VM account that is just the GV lady saying "Press 1 to accept, yada yada yada"

GrooVeIP worked when I tried it on my V with Harmonia. Then I reflashed, now I don't have it installed because I haven't gotten around to it.
