So Basically I wanted a dock for my DX. But yet I didn't want to go out and buy the official one from verizon or whatever. So i set out to make my own. (Yes I know I'm not the first or whatever, nor is the best solution for everyone)

I tried to decide what I wanted to use for the Dock to hold it up. At first I tried a coat hanger... that went out the window quickly. I tried to Find something in my House that I already had the I could easily modify to my needs.

It came to me. A Desk Old Calender thingy.... ( you Know the ones that are titled, have the tear off days etc... with the card boardish paper backing.)

I tore off all the left over pages and was left with just the white backing.. There is a square whole in the back.

So What I Did was took a sharp object and Popped 4 holes into 2 on either side that were spaced out enough to support the DX. I then took these cable management Things, and cut the into a hook basically. Then took 2 Zip ties and feed them through the back and and through the holes into the hook then back around and pull them tight so they wouldn't move. The the Dock Was Made! But then I had a problem... How do I get it into dock mode!? Well Thankfully I found this article that solved me Issue!

Here are some pictures if you didn't understand my instructions which I doubt you could haha :)

Item Needed + Plus Calender Thingy (Zip Ties and Cable Hook thingys can be found at Lowes)

Not bad looking! Here's an extra trick. Find a small magnet and run it along the backside of the stand with the X installed and not in dock mode. Eventually you'll find out where to place the magnet to have it autodock. As a hint, it's between the Google logo and the start of the battery door.

Ah I think I heard about this before. I'll see if i can find a small magnet later (:

But I also like being able to put it in dock mode even when I don't have my make-shift dock with me!

I use Dock Simulator myself, if you pair it with Dimmer I've found the brightness to be much better for a bedside alarm clock. I like what you've done with that, I may have to build one of my own :)

Well there is actually a dimmer built in! See on the left hand side there are 3 buttons:
Top: X (exits dock Mode)
Middle: Alarm (Set Alarm)
Bottom: Dimmer (Dims the screen for night-time bed time use )

Yes, but Dimmer makes it even more dim :) There isn't much to generate light in my bedroom (no cracks about this, please :)) so even when dimmed the clock is a bit bright.

If you're going to go the DIY route, some dude did a pretty cool mod using the Arkon Mega Grip, a chip clip magnet and a little Super Glue: Arkon Mega Grip and magnet placement - Android Forums

Arkon has a desktop holder that can be used with the mod above for a cheap handy dock.

YouTube - ‪3 in 1 Dashboard, Console, or Desktop Mount with Mega Grip Phone Holder | Arkon SM416‬‎

You can get it here: Arkon Mega Grip Smartphone Mount for Motorola Droid X, Droid, and Devour

I'm using the beanbag mount for a desk holder atm.
