Alternative Gallery App

Just got this phone last week, my first Android phone. The one kink, I am still trying to work out is the "Gallery". I have a few issues, when I open it, it shows a blurry picture as the background (I assume its a zoomed in picture), is there a way to edit this? Also the gallery and sdcard are separate albums, is it possible to make it one? Last issue, is it takes a view seconds to auto-focus every picture.

Is there an application out there that you prefer to view your pictures easier? One other question any apps where it will automatically back-up my pictures? I assume I could always use Evernote (doesn't seem like the easiest because I believe I have to upload every photo individually)

I have tried quickpic with mixed results to replace the gallery app.

And I use Sugar sync to back up my photos to multiple locations. Despite it's name, it's not really a sync app as much as it's a copy/backup app. For true syncing, I'd try dropbox, but I prefer the built in pic feature of SugarSync (which essentially moves any picture I take both to their cloud AND to my desktop/laptops.
