Unless I am missing a setting this seems to be just on or off with no ability to schedule?

I did quite like being able to schedule this on my S8 and G6 before that.

agree, that would be a great feature. i wonder if this is something you could use Tasker for

Agreed. That light will be too bright at night for me. We live fairly rural and it gets black dark on moonless nights.

Hmm...I use the scheduler on my S7 simply for battery saving purposes. I wonder how this will effect overnight battery life from the Pixel 2 if it is on throughout the night? Guess we will see! But maybe that is something they can add to the software if we pester them enough.

I didn't have any issues either brightness when I kept it next to my bed. The text on the screen dims to the point that it's really hard to see it when it's dark in my room.

It does feel like quite a big oversight. Clearly they have been inspired by LG and Samsung to include AOD and both of these offer a scheduling option.

It's is not
making a difference in battery life for me. It gets incredibly dim. It has been off charge for over 10 hours with 2 hours of on screen, and battery is at 78%.

Agreed. It is so dim, I cannot hardly tell it is on at all unless I put my glasses on. :)

It seems to use the ambient light sensor to adjust the brightness of the always on display. When the lights are out it gets very very dim. Next to my bed at night there's absolutely no light glow coming from the phone.
