I'm experimenting with push e-mail through K-9 and the gmail app and having poor results. Everyone's first suggestion to save battery life is to disable "always on mobile data," but upon doing so it seems that when the phone is asleep no e-mails are pushed through either program.

Am I doing something wrong? I would still like e-mails to push through sleep, but I want the battery savings of leaving always on mobile data off.

Yes I'm have a similar problem/question as well. I have disabled "always on mobile data" and have my IMAP email (the non-gmail account) check new email every 5 minutes. However, when I turn the screen off/lock the phone and put it in my pocket, I don't think the email gets pushed. I feel as though I have to turn on the screen and unlock (swipe down) in order for the phone to start syncing. Is this due to the face that I disabled "always on mobile data?"

Any advice from Android experts would be great! I'm a recent Blackberry defector...speaking of which I need to sell my Bold 9000...haha

Considering that this is precisely what disabling 'always on mobile data' is supposed to do, no.

Either deal with it or keep 'always on mobile data' on.

Lmao, sorry to those angry with the attitude expressed, but that was pretty funny. Haha.

Back to the topic at hand, yes...turning off mobile data turns off the data connection. Texts and phone calls come through another method, but e-mail and all that other stuff is data. So turning off data will turn off the ability for the phone to have anything pushed to it.

Sucks that you kind of have to neuter the functionality to get the battery life you want. Thanks for gettin back.

Not to mention losing out on the ability to take advantage of the $10 premium data fee we all love :p
