Always on Moto X feature?

Is it possible we'll get this feature if it is in a new update since the processors will most likely be the same? Will it kill battery?

I think I heard a Verge Mobile podcast where Chris Ziegler thinks it won't because the Moto X is supposed to have a bevy of new low powered sensors such as an always-on mic. Otherwise, the phone constantly listening to you may use a lot of energy. So the Always on feature may be something baked into the Moto phones specifically.
