Always roaming

Is anyone else experiencing constant roaming only connections in areas that are supposed to be "best" coverage? Since day one with the EVo I could only get a roaming connection in my entire neighborhood when I used to get full 3g bars in the past with my Pre. At first I thought the network may have been overloaded but over a week later I'm wondering if there isnt a issue with my hardware. I've spoken to Sprint at the store and on the phone and both told me that I should be getting good reception at my homes location.

Try this - Go to Menu while on the home screen - settings - system updates - here you need to do two things. First go to Update profile and let it do it's thing. Next go back to settings and choose Update PRL.

My wife was having some issues with roaming and dropping calls. The sprint tech had her do those two things and her problems cleared up. It will basically ensure that your phone is aware of the proper cell towers for roaming and non roaming calls. I went ahead and did the same thing on mine. I was surprised that there actually was an update for both of those since the phone was brand new.

I'll give that a shot later today when I get home. I was on the phone with sprint for hours the other night and I think they had me do that already though.

I'm in the middle of Irvine, CA where all the carriers bring their A game and blanket the entire city, yet my EVO is always data roaming..

I even lose signal completely when I'm in an elevator! wtf.

My Droid Incredible never roams and I never lose signal in the elevators.. of course it's Verizon, but Sprint has the same type of CDMA network..
