So I previously had the Acer A500 Tablet. I found myself not using it as much as I did with my previous tablet, the original Samsung 7 inch tablet.
I thought it was more do to the weight and bulkiness of the Acer. So I purchased the Transformer prime and keyboard. I love how it works and the smoothness of ICS.
About a week after getting mine, I bought my wife the Samsung 8.9. I fell in l9ove with the screen colors. I mentioned this in the Prime forum and I was told that Samsung over saturates their colors. Maybe so, but I do have the Samsung Galaxy Sll phone and I guess that?s what I am used to.
So I am now debating on whether to sell my prime and Keyboard and get the 8.9 32GB.
I know that the Prime has a better processor and ICS but man I love holding my wife?s 8.9.
So for anyone that knows about tablets, I ask you,
Am I nuts for even considering this?

you lose a LOT of functionality with the 8.9 a severe lack of ports, a smaller screen and trading ac ompany good on updates to one with the worst record on updating devices. It is also a smaller screen the stock 3.1 is a lot buggier then the 3.2 on the transformer.

i love my GTab 8.9 but i do honestly think you are crazy for wanting to trade it away just for minor looks

I really like my 8.9. I actually paid MORE for the 8.9 than the Tab 10.1 (or xoom, or whatever else costco sells) because it is a more comfortable device for me to use. Specs don't mean a thing if they are wrapped in a device you don't enjoy using. If it is more comfortable to use the 8.9, I say trade in the prime.

It was more so that how the 8.9 felt in my hands. It was lighter, seemed more balanced, I could type easier with it and it was actually faster than my Acer. My acer was very sluggish and I just assumed it was a honeycomb thing.

it is a sleek device and very pleasing to hold but i personally would never concoder trading raw power and functionality of a transformer prime for a more limited and, spec wise, weaker tablet

I was thinking on just keeping the Prime and wait to see if Samsung comes out this year with a newer 8.9 with similar specs to the Transformer Prime.

I think you're crazy if you abandon a device which you enjoy using, which doesn't cause you as much fatigue for raw power.

In addition Samsung may not be the fastest to market with updates but when they do arrive they work.

Unlike ASUS which rushes to market and misses design fundamentals. Such as aluminum blocks radio signals. Or poor antenna design. Leading to poor WiFi strength and the inability to use WiFi and BlueTooth at the same time. Or a GPS which doesn't work at all. I won't even begin to talk about the release of a new model or the petition started by owners on the ASUS forum.

My point bring they all have pros and cons. Use the device that works for you. I like my 8.9. I like my TFP. Hell, I even like my old Xoom. I carry the 8.9 because it is light, small enough to no be clumsy (sorry Xoom).

Make your choice based on your needs.

Given how much I enjoy the p1010 7" I'm not overly surprised I suppose. My big conundrum is whether to get the tab 2 7" or the transformer prime. Living in a low income neighborhood I've found that people think my tablet with carrying case is a plain old organizer. Probably why I still own it....

I recently went from the TF101 to the Galaxy 8.9 and extremely happy I did. the Asus was laggy and slow and constantly stopping. The Galaxy doesn't have the expandability of the Asus, but I've found I don't really need it and I enjoy using it MUCH more than the Asus. Just my 2 cents.

I have decided if I can find someone to trade me for a 32gb that is close to be as new as mine, I am going to do it. I just don't use it as much as I did when I had the smaller tablet.

While I am looking for someone to trade, can someone tell me if there is any news of Samsung coming out with a newer 8.9? I am seeing a newer 7 and 10.1 but not seeing an 8.9.
I don't get why they wouldn't, the 8.9 seems to be a perfect size.

I have a prime and got my gf an 8.9 tab this weekend. While I like the tab, I will stick with my prime. The prime is bigger, lighter, thinner, faster, and IMO clearer for text. For each his own but i wouldnt trade mine. :D ICS now is better than "maybe soon" and I fully expect the prime will get even better with future updates.

Edit: ...and no sd card is a bummer too. The tab can fill up pretty quick.

Well I sold my Prime on EBay and bought the AT&T 8.9 on EBay and got the no contract plan for 30 a month. The only thing I didn't realize is that the AT&T 8.9 had a snapdragon processor so the Gameloft games won't play since it isn't the Tegra 2 chip. Besides that, I couldn’t be happier.
