Am I rooted?

Yes... I am a noob to the android world...

Supposedly I am rooted (I have the superuser icon as well as Titanium Backup installed) but when I try an emulator I still see a $ and not a #. So am I rooted or not? Honestly I am not sure since I am trying to rename some files and they all say access denied.

I tried the FascinateRoot_v02 and it seemed to work just fine.

Any suggestions?

In terminal type su and hit enter.

Try and perform a back up with titanium backup and see what happens. If it asks for superuser permissions select allow if it does not then you are not rooted.

Thanks for all the quick replies. BTW.... I am an idiot! I typed in su again and this time I do see the #.

For me, I am not sure that having my phone rooted will do anything. I thought there was a Verizon Fascinate Froyo leak and I was planning on upgrading. Unfortunately I found that out after I rooted so now I am going to find out how to un-root.

I came from the BB world to have an OS that works. The link you sent is still very much an Alpha version and I am staying away!! But thanks anyway.

its a great phone, and we have some devs workin to make it even better. once you root you can do almost anything with this phone.

In my two weeks of owning this phone I am LOVING it! Now that I am rooted, will I have any issues updating (if) when Froyo comes out?

lol. forget the stupid (i have been using that word alot lately...) OTA updates. we will have a leaked froyo weeks before its released by vzw. the last ota from vzw screwed up my phone. i will get my stuff from adrynalyne, jt1134, punk kaos and im know im missing some one. point is, what those guys put out is way better than what vzw does.
