Amazon App store unrooted NC

Does anyone know if you can install the Amazon app store on an unrooted Nook Color?

I shouldn't hurt to try. You would need to install the Android SDK on your computer, download the App Store application and then use 'adb install application_name.apk'. If it works, that would be a way to get around the lack of the Android Market. Information on using the SDK is at http://nookdevs.com/ADB_Over_USB.

The only thing I am unsure of is whether it would actually write files to the Nook without rooting but if not, nothing should be damaged in the failed process.

Yes I rooted my nookcolor and I was not able to add the andriod market or google app. So I dl Amazon and it works PERFECT. I'm addicted to Angry Birds.

So you have to be rooted to do this, right?
