amazon deal of the day

I "purchased" it and went to install it, then saw the permissions:

- Read SMS or MMS
- Manage your accounts list and use the authentication credentials of an account
- Read phone state and identity
- Retrieve running applications
- Discover known accounts
- Automatically start at boot.

Why does an office app need to read my SMS/MMS messages and use my account credientials? What purpose does it server running in the background all the time? Why does it need to know what other apps are running?

Great find! I bought it a few days after the ThunderBolt was released, last March. Love it. Use it all the the time. Best Office app available AFAIC. And I've also purchased Docs2Go.

If someone sends a file via sms/mms I would assume.

I know its not the spot but wanted to make sure you all knew.

Office pro 5 (normally $15) is free on the amazon app store.

Amazing deal.

What is the Amazon app store and how do I get this app? I found it in the Android Market and it's $14.99 there.

Google "Amazon App Store" and you'll find a direct link to download the application. You can begin the process on either your phone or PC.

I have become obsessed with checking the Amazon AppStore every morning about 12:30. Lately it's been mostly junk or repeats that I already have, but this one was definitely worth getting!

Definitely a solid app and worth the price, free, from Amazon. It handles Microsoft Office 2010 docs and spreadsheets very well. Also, PDFs load very quickly. It also integrates nicely with PrinterShare which was another Amazon Freebie a few weeks ago.

I "purchase" the app of the day regardless if I can use it or not. Started out doing this with my BACKFLIP so when I upgraded I was able to play the higher end games and apps. Told my friends to download this one regardless if they were going to use it now or not because of the price

Amazon has a market now. Been around for a few months. You have to go to amazon website from your computer and download their app store. They give a free app daily and today it is the office pro!
They give amazing apps free including games for those who are gamers. I am not into games.
It is really a nice gesture on their end. I have gotten over 50 apps from them !
