Amazon free app

Has anyone noticed that when the Amazon free app comes up with an update it comes up with a cost attached. I have not done the update since really not interested in paying. Has anyone tried the update and is it free or do they charge?

So if I understand your post correct my experience was :

I got soundhound when it was the free app of the day off amazon app store.
A few days ago when it updated there was no cost involved to update it.
