One of the main issues reported over and over again in these and other forums covering the Optimus V is trouble using various 2sd scripts, links2sd, DT a2sd, etc, etc. People spend hours partitioning and reformatting their sdcards, often loosing apps in the process, and then having to do it all over again anytime they update or switch ROMs. There is a much easier alternative:

Titanium Backup or MyBackup or similar backup type apps. For this post, I will be referring to Titanium Backup (TB), but what follows holds true for just about any of the backup apps available.

Let me begin by asking you a question: When was the last time you used the Speed Test app?

You may be someone who is obsessive about their download speeds and you test it everyday. More likely, you are like the rest of us, and you only test download speeds when you think there is an issue. If you fall into the latter category, then there is absolutely no reason for the Speed Test apk to sit on your phone for weeks at a time taking up space.

A simple solution that will provide you with virtually unlimited storage space is to backup apps you don't use often, then uninstall them till you need them. Titanium Backup can restore an app in less than 30 seconds. So use the Speed Test app, then back it and it's data up, and then uninstall it till you need it again.

Take a moment to go through your app drawer, and write down every app you haven't used in a week. Back those apps up with TB, then uninstall them till needed. You'll find you have virtually unlimited storage space this way, and it is less of a PITA than having to deal with wonky scripts that not only cause lots of people headaches, but can actually physically damage your sdcard. ;)

I actually use link2sd and your method. Lol. TB is great though. I really enjoy switching themes and I have about 30 of them backed up.

Personally I found making a partition pretty easy once I knew what I was doing but I could see where someone could screw up big time, especially since there really isn't a good guide out there for starters. I had to rely on everyone else to share their knowledge.

A couple other benefits I've seen of link2sd are:

1. My apps load a lot quicker after boot up. When I solely used app2sd to move apps to the SD card, it would sometimes take up to 3 minutes for all of them to load after boot up. Using your philosophy may also solve this issue by using less apps.

2. The main reason I turned to link2sd is because of the "insufficient space" market error. When moving dalvik cache to my sd-ext, I never worry about this error.

3. I never worry about space now that I have a dedicated partition on my sd card with the sole purpose of hosting my apps.

Not trying to debunk your theory, just pointing out the benefits of link2sd. Once you know what you're doing, it's really great. :)
