I just turned my Thunderbolt on this morning, and for some reason, it's determined that I'm in Anchorage, Alaska. I'm actually in Cleveland, Ohio, so that's pretty far off... It's never done this, before, it's always managed to determine where I'm actually at. If I go into the settings and untick the box for automatically determining location, I can adjust the time back to EST, but the location (and weather) still read for Anchorage on the home screen clock widget.

And if I retick the box for automatic location, it just defaults the time back to Alaska. What the heck is going on here? Anyone experience this issue? How do you fix it?

I think we all have experienced this at one time or another. There is a software update coming out soon and I think this will be one of the fixes.

Yeah it's happened to me and I've read others too, just not Anchorage. I'm pretty sure the problem is on the server side by who ever is actually sending the weather info. I've had it show me in the wrong state before for a good 4 hours then it just started working fine again on it's own later in the day.

Hm. Well, after playing around with the Location settings a bit, as well as removing and reapplying my clock widget, it seems to have straightened itself out. Still kinda odd it did that.

Just out of curiosity, in the notification bar, what's that little icon that's a circle with a cross inside it? I noticed when my location was set to Alaska, the icon had little waves coming off of it. But now that it's back to my correct location, the waves have disappeared. I also never noticed the waves before.

Its the GPS.
reading up on the basics from the manual, will sure help out a lot as all of the symbols etc. are there.
30 minutes of reading the manual is worth 1 day of frustration.

I know it took me 3 days to figure something i found in 30 seconds.

I should add that when it's got me in the wrong state I can't even manually set my location when it's tripping out like that. It's like when it happens a database of locations on their end is down. In case that ever happens to ya.

Last time it showed me in Chicago and when I tried to manually put in my city ( Troy Mi ) it's found many times before it finds nothing, I even tried Detroit and it didn't find it lol.

It has happened to me except it said I was in some country that I had never heard of. Took a lot of messing with the widget and it took days before it showed my right location again. I'm not sure what's the cause of this issue but you aren't alone. Hopefully that update that is going to happen will help solve any of these issues that we are having.

If I was from Cleveland I would be thrilled my phone said I was in Anchorage. Your phone just wants out of the "mistake by the Lake"!

I live in Deer Park Washington, yet my phone has me located in Clayton, Colbert, Chattaroy, as well as one of it's favorites, Hayward Ca. It's dropped me in some more unusual places like Gabarone, and Noumea recently. I can slightly understand it being off by 5 or 10 miles, but to locate me in Botswana or an island west of Australia? Good Grief!

It changes the time on the phone, so I start getting email alerts in the middle of the night, and since I use Locale, it never is quite sure where I am or what settings I want. I can't wait until it turns my ringer back on during Church.

It was amusing for about 33 seconds. Now it's just annoying. The new update lists
"+ Accurate location is displayed when accessing the Weather Widget."
I hope so.
