Andoid phone with good reception and battery life

I have a Samsung S4 and have a few issues re battery life and reception.

My wife is with the same provider and has a Samsung Phone mini and gets clear reception and data when I have none. Swapping SIm cards shows that it is the phone at fault!

As I live in a week area I am thinking of changing my phone. I have heard the Samsung notes have good reception, as well the the Google / Motorola phones.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

U might have a defective unit. My S4 has even caught on a LTE signal in my grandparents basement one time lol.
