Andriod 5.1 Contacts has no Groups, how can I get my Groups back?

Andriod 5.1 Contacts has no Groups

Just update my Moto-X 2014 (or at least it was bought in 2014) to Lolipop. Went to use messaging and found the Contact entry was broken. When I went into Contacts to correct it I found I could no long get the contacts in the groups I had created. Family, Friends, etc.

Add the fact that the new look sucks a bit. Way too much white space with no clear delineation of the entries. This I can live with but not both.

Is there a fix for either of these? If not is there a way to go back to Android 4.4.4?

Welcome to Android Central! In the Contacts app, tap the Menu button, then Contacts to Display. Selecting the groups there might be the only way to do it--that's how it is on the Nexus 5.
