Just a heads up that after updating to Android 10, I can no longer send text messages using Android Auto. Nearly 100 people have posted on an Android Auto forum about this problem. I haven't read all of them, but the ones I have looked at appear to be predominantly from users of the Note 9 or S9: https://support.google.com/androidauto/thread/26362828#

Here is a copy/paste of my post there:

This is with a 2016 Honda Accord EXL, in which Android Auto used to work. Now it will not send any texts at all. Just as the OP says, it will respond to my initial voice command to send a text, "Sure, text Joe Blow, what's the message," but then either: (a) as I start to dictate the message it will interrupt and say, "Internet connection is not strong enough (or not stable) at this time" and end the process; or (b) I will dictate the message, the colored lights linger for a moment on the screen, and then the process ends with no further response. EVERY TIME. I am able to use my phone and send a text just fine, however.

The same thing often happens when trying to place a phone call, but not always. Phone Model: SM-N960U1; Android Build: QP1A.190711.020.N960U1UEU3DTA5; Android Auto version: 5.0.500224-release. After I updated to Android 10, I cleared the cache on my phone. Google maps still largely works with Android Auto, though I sometimes have to repeat the voice command, "Navigate to X."

As usual, forget the car from the device and the device from the car. Clear the cache partition and reboot.
Then, rescan and repair.
Good luck

Thanks. That did not help. I think some of the 100+ folks who posted in the Android Auto thread with this problem went so far as to do a complete factory reset on their phone, to no avail.

Bummer. Carrier? Country?

I have an unlocked Note 9. I'm on Sprint in the U.S. I'm pretty sure that others with this problem who posted in the Android Auto thread to which I linked were on other carriers, and I'm pretty sure I saw one post from someone in Germany who was experiencing the same problem.

If anyone here with a Note 9 has updated to Android 10 has NOT had problems with Android Auto, or had problems and somehow solved them, I'd love to hear about it.

I've had my Note 9 for over a year now. I've TRIED Android Auto many many times on a 2016 Chevrolet Silverardo. I gave up each time because it simply didn't want to work. The Closest I got was the last time. I installed it and it seemed to be working ok. Until I started driving. I got a message on the screen and the conversation went something similar to this.

AA: Hey, it looks like you're going to work. Do you need directions there?
Me: No
AA: What about here? You were here last week. Do you need directions back?
Me: No!
AA: Hey, you called this person last month. Do you want to call him back?
Me: NO!!
AA: What about this guy? You called him last month too. Do you want to call him back now??
Me: NO!!!!!!

All this while I was driving down the road. After the first quarter mile, I finally pulled into a parking lot and uninstalled AA. The next morning, I got in my truck and my TRUCK ASKED ME WHERE AA WAS AND ASKED IF I WANTED TO REINSTALL IT. I found that setting and turned it off really quick.

Apparently, google is placing the blame on the manufacturer. This is a known issue with One UI 2.0 and all Samsung phones that received it.
ETA - whenever they actually get around to fixing it. Luckily, I have my old S8+ that I am pulling out of retirement until I see that it has been fixed.

This is extremely frustrating. It was a KNOWN ISSUE DURING THE BETA's and they released it anyway.
