Android 11 won't let me listen to broadcasts

Ever since my Galaxy S10 updated to the last Android 11, I have to have the screen display working in order to listen to a radio or podcast broadcast. This applies to TuneIn Radio, and also just going to a local radio station's listen live page. I used to be able to start to listen to a broadcast, turn the display screen off, and put the phone in my pocket. If I do this now, the broadcast simply turns off within about 10 seconds. If I want to listen, I have to find a place to put the phone, and leave the full display screen on, which unnecessarily eats battery. I suspected it was TuneIn Radio insisting I look at their ads (I have the free version), but it also happened when I went to the local radio station page. I found an article that told me how to fix it on a Pixel, but my Samsung doesn't have the settings options that they mentioned. Any suggestions?

Did you check to see if battery optimization is enabled for the apps in question? Listening with the screen off works fine for me on Android 11 with the Google Podcasts app at least. I have a Pixel 4a 5G, maybe it's something Samsung did rather than Android 11 in general, have you checked the Galaxy S10 forum section?

Also make sure you don't have any general power-saving modes turned on.

It's possible that app not updated yet to android 11 version but like mentioned above look at power save modes on or that app put to sleep in device care

Search for deep sleeping apps in settings. Also makes sure the app has background activity switched on.

Great suggestions, everyone, thanks. Power saving mode is off. Battery optimization is enabled for TuneIn Radio. I update my apps whenever Google Play says there's an update available. Background activity was NOT switched on for that app, so I've turned it on. We'll see if that makes a difference. If not, I may indeed need to take this question to the Galaxy S10 forum.

On a very simple test, turning background activity on for TuneIn Radio seems to have solved the instant shutdown problem. Thanks for the suggestion!
