Android 12 Notifications

A few days ago, I updated to Android 12 on my Pixel 3 XL. Not really excited about it, but is seems to work ok, and hopefully it is a more secure version and works well. So far, I have one glaring problem with this new version. In Android 11 I could double tap the notification area or the area on the other side of the notch and get all the notification etc. From there I could choose whatever option I wanted, or just clear them all. Since Android 12 was loaded the double tapping on these areas does nothing. Many times, I cannot even clear the notifications. Is this a flaw in Android 12 that may be addressed in the future, or is there a setting somewhere to correct this? For example, one inconvenience is turning the flashlight on or off. I used to click the area on the right of the notch and then hit the flashlight symbol and voila, the light would come on. Likewise, for turning it off. Now it is necessary to do several many clicks to turn on or off the flashlight. Now I do not see an option to clear all the notifications.

Thank you,

Bob

I've actually never been aware of double-tapping the status bar in Android 11 -- that is what you're referring to, right? I'm not sure what exactly you mean by double-tapping the "notification area."

In Android 12, if you swipe down once, you should see the 4 main Quick Settings toggles at the top, and your notifications below that. If you then swipe up just a little bit, you should then see a Clear All button on the lower right.

Which notifications do you have trouble clearing? Do you mean you can't swipe them away? Remember that certain system notifications can't be swiped away.

For the flashlight, I edited my Quick Settings toggles to make sure the Flashlight toggle is the one on the lower right of the 4 main toggles. If I tap it, the flashlight turns on. That's not happening for you?

BTW, I moved this thread from the Pixel 3a XL forum to the 3 XL forum, since you specified you have the latter.
