I have an Android Box running Android 12 with a customized firmware. This customization enables us to configure a proxy network specifically for LAN/Ethernet connections. The proxy works correctly under normal operation.

However, I encountered a significant issue: whenever there's any form of network disruption or glitch (e.g., cable unplugged and re-plugged, router reboot, temporary internet outage), the proxy connection fails. Critically, it does not automatically recover once the network is stable again. The only way to restore proxy functionality is a manual reboot of the Android Box.

Is this an Android 12 limitations? Looking for solutions or insights of this issue. Greatly appreciate your time and effort on this.

Welcome to Android Central forums. I am not familiar with Android TV boxes so I dropped your question into Google and got the reply below which includes some troubleshooting tips. It might also help to know what proxy service you're using and whether or not this used to work in the past? Did it work with this device and service or is one or the other new to you?

Let us know if any of these help you.

The issue is that your proxy connection is failing to automatically recover after a network disruption. While a router reboot might resolve the issue, it doesn't offer a solution for the core problem of the proxy connection failing to recover automatically.
Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Verify Network Devices: Ensure that your router and modem are powered on and functioning correctly. Check the indicator lights on these devices for any signs of errors or problems.
  2. Restart Router and Modem: Unplug the power cord from both your router and modem, wait a few minutes, and then plug them back in.
  3. Check Proxy Settings: Verify that your proxy settings are correctly configured in your device's network settings. Ensure that the proxy server address, port, and any required authentication information are accurate.
  4. Check DNS Settings: Ensure that your DNS settings are correctly configured. Sometimes, DNS issues can prevent a connection from being established or maintained.
  5. Check Firewall Rules: If you have a firewall installed on your device, ensure that it's not blocking the proxy connection. You may need to temporarily disable or configure the firewall to allow the connection.
  6. Test with a Different Proxy Server: If possible, try using a different proxy server to see if the problem persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the proxy server itself or with your local network configuration.
  7. Check for Malware or Security Software Conflicts: Malware or security software can sometimes interfere with network connections, including proxy connections. Consider running a scan for malware and checking for conflicts with any security software you're using.
  8. Contact your ISP: If the issue persists, contact your internet service provider (ISP) to rule out any problems on their end.
  9. Consider a Network Reset: If you're still experiencing issues, you may need to perform a network reset on your device. This will reset all of your network settings to their default values. Be aware that this will erase all of your current network configurations, so make sure you have a backup of them before proceeding. [
