Well after using 14 for a little while, thumbs up. There's some menu design changes, some very good security updates, and some misc. stuff. The most interesting new security feature is now the device has the ability to tell if you are being tracked. For example, someone wants to follow you, so they put a tracking device - like an Apple AirTag - on your luggage or car, your phone can now detect it. My favorite of the updates is a "lights and whistles" thing - you can now set the screen and/or camera to flash when a call or other notification comes in. It's something that has been available on iPhones for some time, but it's good to see it on 14.

The update does not slow down the device at all, and the RAZR seems to continue to operate as smoothly as usual.

Not seeing the update yet on an unlocked razr plus. Hopefully I'm in the cue just waiting my turn.
EDIT: installing

Glad you're getting it Cbreze! Any reflections?
Well, android 14 as we all have found out by now is pretty meh as updates go. I already had it running on another device so there were no surprises. Like most of us I had followed the beta tester comments early on and quickly realized it was really a nothing burger in my opinion. Others may disagree but I also feel there is not to much else you can offer an already completely customizable OS for the most part.
The Lock Screen customizations, smarter hearing aids, health connect, more readable text when scrolling are just a few of the “exciting” upgrades. Nothing there for me except enhanced security which is the main reason for installing it. Better battery? That’s quite subjective and I noticed no real difference, my battery has been quite good since day one and still is. Some can probably use some of that and that’s great, but I think from what I’ve been reading most don’t think to much of the new OS.

I’m also running the beta of iOS 18 on an iPhone and it is quite the upgrade for apple. They left out a lot of obvious stuff but again that’s apple 100% just the way they are. But that’s another forum.

I actually have my Razr plus listed on Swappa for the 2nd time. I’m realizing , to no surprise really that these devices have some of the worst resale value of any phone I’ve ever tried to sell. 👎🏻
I wasn’t expecting to sell it but I just never use it anymore. I found that the flip open process just became mundane pretty fast and actually in my case a small amount of drudgery. Also I’ve nearly dropped it several times doing so as it has a tendency to want to slip out of my hands unless I’m really paying attention. That’s with or without a case. Another complaint of mine is the sheer fragility of the inner screen. Even with a screen protector in place I need to be super careful what I clean the smudges off with. I really don’t want to carry around a special cleaning cloth(I have one at home). So I just put up with the smudged screen until I get home to wipe it clean. So tempted to use my shirt tail as I do with every other phone screen but that would scratch it.
Sorry I guess I got off topic but man this forum is mostly dead for days on end and I just wanted to give my opinion on the OS 14 but went off a bit. If anyone wants a good deal on a plus look me up on swappa (cbreze)
My epitaph for the Razr is: “ it was fun for awhile until it wasn’t.”

Good post Jimbo. I'm fortunate that my Razr is performing really well after 9 months or so, and 14 is running smoothly. For me (and I realize that others may have different preferences) the form factor is ideal. You posted this about 5 days ago - Have you had any luck selling it? I'm glad I like mine lol - especially considering that resale values are low.

Glad you're liking it. Mine works great and I have no real complaints other than just the whole folding thing. Didn't think that would bother me but after a while it sure enough did. It's a great phone though and I'll most likely be keeping it for a backup. I've had it listed since July 1st and the listing expires on the 31st not one nibble. Asking $399 for a $1000 cost brand new phone one year ago. I always wanted to try a foldable so I did. I won't be buying any more. It's nice to see others still enjoying theirs though.
